Woody Harrelson Joins Cast of Columbia's "2012"
The always awesome Woody Harrelson ("NATURAL BORN KILLERS", "TRANSSIBERIAN") will be joining John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Danny Glover, Thandie Newton, Oliver Platt, Amanda Peet and Thomas McCarthy in Roland Emmerich's apocalyptic disaster movie "2012", according to MTV. “I play a guy who's been talking for a long time, the whole world thinks he's crazy,” Harrelson said of his character. “But he's been talking that there's gonna be hell to pay for what's been going on ecologically and everything.”
The story centers on an academic researcher who opens a portal into a parallel universe and makes contact with his double in order to prevent an apocalypse predicted by the ancient Mayans.
Synopsis : Dr. Adrian Helmsley, part of a worldwide geophysical team investigating the effect on the earth of radiation from unprecedented solar storms, learns that the earth's core is heating up. He warns U.S. President Thomas Wilson that the crust of the earth is becoming unstable and that without proper preparations for saving a fraction of the world's population, the entire race is doomed. Meanwhile, writer Jackson Curtis stumbles on the same information. While the world's leaders race to build "arks" to escape the impending cataclysm, Curtis struggles to find a way to save his family. Meanwhile, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes of unprecedented strength wreak havoc around the world.
